In Acts 10, Cornelius and his family hear the gospel message and receive the Holy Spirit. God’s promises for the people of Israel are extended outward to Cornelius and then further to all peoples. No longer is the story of scripture just for one group of people, but for all! This is amazing news, but we might not realize how amazing it is unless we read this passage and the rest of the Bible. It is there that we learn best about who God is, who we are, and how all our stories work together.
