Our commitments

What and how we are

Christ Community Church is part of the Reformed Church in America, a denomination with history in the United States dating to 1628. We are committed to a faith which is Reformed, Evangelical, and Ecumenical.

We are Reformed… To be reformed is to believe in a big God, sovereign over all things, who saves us by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We are “reformed and always reforming” to the word of God. That means we are all “a work in progress” and the Bible is our guide.

The Reformation of the church began in the 15th and 16th centuries as people recentered the Bible and began applying it to their beliefs and actions. We believe these Scriptures are inspired by God’s Spirit and are authoritative in all they intend to teach. So we read them weekly as a community and use them to guide our lives.

We are Evangelical… If Jesus really is the son of God who lived, died, and rose again, then we need to spread the good news! Jesus has commanded us to be witnesses of his love, “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). We are committed to sharing this good news by loving our neighbor, offering radical hospitality, caring for the weak, and boldly proclaiming the good news.

We are Ecumenical… God’s movement isn’t limited to our church. There are amazing Christian ministries in our community and around the world. Whenever possible, we want to link arms with brothers and sisters who share our faith and express it with love.
