Every new year is filled with resolutions and plans. And every year most resolutions are forgotten and our plans fail. Proverbs 16 can read like this, “Mortals make elaborate plans, but God has the last word.” 
 At first glance, that might look like bad news. “What do you mean, my plans will fail?” But think about it, the God who has the last word has invited you and I into relationship. He has promised to be our God and we get to be his people. As you start a new decade, we invite you to commit to the LORD and not just your plans, after all – he gets the final word.
