To understand the meaning of Samaria you have to do a little historical research. What once was a central and significant part of Jewish faith and community was lost because of the sins of the people. King Solomon led the people away from allegiance toward God and mixed up what faithfulness looked like. What was lost was the thing that set Israel apart in the first place. Their God was unlike any other god. Israel’s collapse is a lesson for us. Like them we are tempted to mix and match gods, to drift from God’s mission and purpose and find our lives all-together worthless.
