Our beliefs
What a person believes is critically important to what they do and how they live. The Bible describes a Christian as someone who lives and loves like Jesus. Christians are challenged to speak the truth in love. We consider the following beliefs among the most essential truths revealed in the Bible.
The Triune God – We believe there is but one living and true God, subsisting in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — equal in power and glory; and that this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all.
The Saving Work of Jesus – We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Savior of the world; and that through his life, death, and resurrection we can be united with Christ and recipients of God’s salvation.
The Renewing Work of the Holy Spirit – This mysterious act of salvation is God’s work. Because of our sin and inability, we need a God who has done all of it for us from start to finish. Through the Holy Spirit our soul is regenerated and made able to live a holy life.
The Bible – We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God and the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice.
The Mission of the Church – The church is a collection of sinners, saved by grace and sent to serve each other and their community. It is impossible to faithfully follow Christ without a commitment to each other and our world. Through worship, discipleship, and mission, we are strengthened to serve and guided in our understanding of God’s word.
