Is There Still A Harvest?
We have had a mission partnership in Africa stretching over 30 years. This spring a small team from Christ Community went to support the ministry and deepen the partnership. They found the ministry in Kenya effective and growing in powerful ways. They have come back with two lessons for our community as we try to love our neighbors and address the needs of our own communities. This week’s teaching is on God’s harvest. When we read about Jesus’s ministry, we hear of lives being changed: people are healed from sickness, hungry people are fed and people who look to be a long way away from God come to belief. So why don’t we see that now? Has God stopped working? In Matthew 10 we see Jesus conclude a barrage of healings and miracles with a wild action – he called 12 ordinary men to his side and gave them the authority to do what he did. Jesus saw potential and power in the gospel message and the church that brings it. This week, we will try to see what Jesus sees and go where he went.
