About Us

At Christ Community Church, we’re passionate about guiding our neighbors to a hope-filled future. We believe in creating a community where lives are transformed through faith, connection, and service. No matter where you’re coming from, you belong here.

Our Values

We are committed to living out the values of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Our mission is to guide our neighbors to a hope-filled future.

Beliefs

We believe there is but one living and true God, subsisting in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — equal in power and glory; and that this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Savior of the world; and that through his life, death, and resurrection we can be united with Christ and recipients of God’s salvation.

This mysterious act of salvation is God’s work. Because of our sin and inability, we need a God who has done all of it for us from start to finish. Through the Holy Spirit our soul is regenerated and made able to live a holy life.

We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God and the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice.

The church is a collection of sinners, saved by grace and sent to serve each other and their community. It is impossible to faithfully follow Christ without a commitment to each other and our world. Through worship, discipleship, and mission, we are strengthened to serve and guided in our understanding of God’s word.

Distinctions

To be reformed is to believe in a big God, sovereign over all things, who saves us by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We are “reformed and always reforming” to the word of God. That means we are all “a work in progress” and the Bible is our guide.

If Jesus really is the son of God who lived, died, and rose again, then we need to spread the good news! Jesus has commanded us to be witnesses of his love, “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). We are committed to sharing this good news by loving our neighbor, offering radical hospitality, caring for the weak, and boldly proclaiming the good news.

God’s movement isn’t limited to our church. There are amazing Christian ministries in our community and around the world. Whenever possible, we want to link arms with brothers and sisters who share our faith and express it with love.

In a world quick to divide and slow to listen, we’re choosing a different path. Jesus calls us to be peacemakers—people of reconciliation. That means we create space for those who see things differently, not to win arguments, but to seek Christ together. We believe that as we walk with one another, we learn to think more like Him.

We’re a church where generations worship, serve, and grow side by side. From the youngest child to the oldest adult, we believe each generation matters—and that we’re better when we’re in it together.

The heart of Christ Community beats the same as when it began.

In 1959, 24 families came together with one goal: help their neighbors find the love of Christ. That vision led to the planting of The Reformed Church of Palos Heights. From the beginning, the church focused on kids, students, and creating meaningful spaces for adults to connect. As the church grew in numbers and impact, they stepped out in faith, purchased property at the corner of Lemont, Homer Glen, Palos, and Orland, and took on a new name: Christ Community Church. After nine years of preparation, the new building opened on Palm Sunday, 2007.

Since then, Christ Community has entered a new chapter—marked by clarity, connection, and a steady pursuit of health. A strong foundation of relationships and courageous faith continues to drive the church forward. In 2023, the church launched the Defining Moments campaign to take three bold steps: open a thrift and community center, pay down debt, and plan intentionally for the future. More than 65 years later, buildings, names, and leaders may have changed—but the mission remains the same: love our neighbors and point people to Jesus.
