Vulnerability is often seen as weakness. The world tells us to protect ourselves, to put up walls, and to never let anyone see our struggles. But in God’s kingdom, vulnerability is not something to fear—it is a path to healing, connection, and transformation. This week’s theme invites us to embrace the truth that God meets us in our most vulnerable places and that Jesus Himself chose the way of vulnerability for our sake.

Psalm 125 opens with a declaration of trust: “Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.” It is a reminder that vulnerability does not mean instability—our security is found not in our own strength but in God’s steadfast presence.

Yet, vulnerability also means confronting hard truths. In 2 Samuel 12, the prophet Nathan exposes David’s sin, forcing the king to face the consequences of his actions. Similarly, in Ruth 1, Naomi and Ruth find themselves in a place of deep loss and uncertainty. But instead of running from their pain, they step forward in faith, choosing vulnerability over self-protection.

Nowhere is vulnerability more evident than in Isaiah 53, the prophecy of the Suffering Servant. Jesus, the King of Kings, willingly took on rejection, sorrow, and suffering. He made Himself vulnerable to the very ones He came to save. In Matthew 4, He enters the wilderness, facing temptation and weakness. In Luke 22, He endures humiliation and mockery. And in John 18, He surrenders to those who will take Him to the cross.

Jesus shows us that vulnerability is not the absence of strength—it is the willingness to trust God completely, even when it costs us everything. This week, consider where God is calling you to be vulnerable. Is there a place in your life where you need to open your heart, confess a struggle, or trust Him more deeply? True strength is found in surrender. Will you let God meet you in your vulnerability?
